Dry Moutn: Dry mouth for any reason is a problem. With insufficient saliva flow plaque builds up more rapidly and the saliva cannot act as a buffer, resulting in more decay. It is especially important to thoroughly clean your teeth using good brushing and flossing habits, Fluoride rinse will also help make teeth more resistant to decay. Regular checkups are also essential to keep teeth and gums healthy.

Sjorgren's : Dry mouth caused by sjorgren's syndrome can be much more debilitating than just the annoyance of not enough saliva. Saliva naturally flushes acid created by bacteria and sugar, etc. Saliva is greatly reduced while sleeping. The loss of saliva due to sjorgren's can increase decay and periodontal disease. Floss and brush meticulously and try xylitol containing products to increase natural saliva.
