Variable: Everybody is different.Usually you have to gradually increase your walking.It all depends on your status before surgery and presence of medical comprbidities like severe arthritis etc.Some may take6wks others 6 mths to a year.

Start now: Generally there should be no limit to your standing or walking tolerance other than level of your pain after this type of surgery. You should refrain from bending over & prolonged sitting except to eat or to go to the bathroom while being careful lifting in the first six weeks to minimize the risk of an incisional hernia. Generally, pt is recommended at 12 weeks after a fusion for best results.
