I am a 72 year old mail. i have a few extra pounds but feel good. i am also t2 diabetic but in remission, a1c below 7. i walk all the time and constantly moving, but can't get my heart rate up. my vitals are usually 109/78 and pulse mid 50's. thanks?

Most likely you're just in good physical condition, in which case your heart rate is perfect as it is. However, if "can't get heart rate up" means it doesn't rise with exercise, of if you otherwise remain concerned, it's something to discuss with your personal physician.

Losing the extra pounds, not easy, will improve the control of diabetes ever more and improve your general health. Check with your doctor if exercising would be safe. Low intensity exercise would be a good start and increase it as tolerated.
