Extreme hip pain, switching from right to left hip / both, spreading down my legs and up my spine. gets worse when laying down / on my stomach, while lifting my head, or moving my neck. sometimes cannot walk. feel like an old lady. could be serious?

There is no point second guessing the cause; if it is severe enough for you not to be able to walk it is important for you to have clinical evaluation and probably imaging evaluation if available to you.
