Tough one: Sounds like a very bothersome side effect. From your tone, i take it you really need the statin for a situation like diabetes or heart disease or a very high cholesterol. Options are 1) lower dose, 2) intermittant dosing, 3) different pill, or 4) combine with rx for restless legs. Please discuss with your doc, who naturally wants to know about side effects bad enough to make you stop rx.

RLS: Things that may help include meds, avoid alcohol and caffeine. Mild exercise is helpful though too strenuous exercise makes it worse. Warm baths and showers may be helpful. Make sure you're not iron deficient.

Stains do affect sleep can cause sleep interruption, fatigue, shortness of breath, cough in some . As your symptom improved suggest drug side effect. It can affect RLS if one have. Bad cholesterol: statin therapy is an unlikely cause and I would caution the need for a comprehensive fasting lipid profile: no one dies from RLS. Statins are rarely if ever the cause and more people die from cholesterol related heart disease ( atherosclerotic ). Seek medical therapy for RLS.
