Liver enzymes increased significantly from statin, doctor is giving me the option to lower dose before stopping it. alt is 179. ast is 90. all other enzymes normal. should i do this and just lower the dose or must i stop the statin ?

I am surprised you have a choice- seems your doc might be comfortable with the lower dose. without knowing more specifics eg reason for the drug it is hard to be specific. If you feel comfortable you may continue with the lower dose under your doc's care
