Likely to be low: There's one disease in particular that's quite common and several others somewhat less common in which vitamin B12 can't be absorbed. These illnesses are subtle, and these people are likely to get sick without knowing it. By contrast, someone with some other vitamin deficiency is either seriously sick already or is on a bizarre diet, so there's no need to screen healthy-looking folks.
