There are...: ...Two versions of vitamin d. D3 supplements are typically derived from animal sources. D2 supplements typically come from plants, mushrooms etc.. There is still a question of which is better and more helpful, with most of the literature coming down on the side of d3. The best d, however, is that made by your skin when exposed to sunlight.

D3 one type of D.: There are three types of vitamin D: 1, 2 and 3. In the body, 1 becomes 2, the. 2 becomes 3 and 3 is the active form. 2 becomes 3 with exposure to sunlight, which we generally discourage, which is why vitamin D3 supplementation is so important. About 2000 units of vitamin D3 daily should suffice.

Yes and No: Strictly speaking Vitamin D include Vit D2 and D3 but Vitamin D2 is never prescribed as D3 is better. So for all practical purposes when we say vitamin D we are insinuating VitD3.So if you are deficient in Vit D,i will ask you to supplement or I will prescribe Vitamin D3
