Disks: If you take 100 people and give each an MRI of the back, over 30% with have an extruded disk, without symptoms. If you have back pain, and an MRI shows the disk is extruded, and that disk corresponds to a nerve source of your pain, then removing the disk with micro surgical techniques has a very high chance of relieving your pain.
