Yes and yes: No doctor will be able to help you if you are not open and honest about the drugs you are taking and your feelings, especially if you are suicidal. A good doctor will not be judgmental about your drug use but will understand addiction and do his or her best to help you manage this issue. His or her knowing you are suicidal is essential if you expect to be helped. Good luck and blessings.

First visit: To meet a psychiatrist for the first time is frightening. You don't know who is he/she and if would be helpful to you. You can relax by thinking positively. Bring your records, your medicines, and expect to relate with a professional trained to work on your best interest. Make all efforts to be sincere and clear about your use of drugs and problems which have been obstacles for you before.
