Recommend more!: Many authorities say most adults need to take 5-8, 000 iu of vit d3 a day to achieve optimal levels (though less may be needed in summer months if you get mid-day sun without protection). Some advise 10, 000 iu/day for 3 months if your level is low. Toxicity has not been reported with doses of 10, 000 iu or less, but it is wise to recheck blood levels periodically.
