A member asked:

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and taking 375mg of magnesium to help with constipation. i get another 100-200mg from foods. is this too much overall?

Probably its ok: But check with your OB doc. Usually 375 mg is the upper limit of normal in pregnancy. An extra dose from food probably wont make much of a diff. I would recommend taking a stool softener, lots of fluids, and high fiber diet to help regulate your bms.

Safe.: Your intake sounds fine. If constipation is still a problem, you can even slightly increase your oral magnesium dose. Also eat lots of fiber and drink lots of water. Exercise gently.
