We're wondering are we able to pregnant.what are the tests for men and women? are there any over-the-counter tests (reliable?) or only hospital tests?

Infertility: For men there are no test. For women there are ovulation kits that will show only if you ovulate monthly. The doctor with specific test will see if you can ovulate, if your tubes can carry the egg, if your uterus can host the pregnancy . 40 % of infertility is male factor, 40% female and 20% unknown. If no ability to get pregnant in 1 year please see an ob/gyn.
