Could frequent infections with swollen lymph nodes be lymphoma? wbc and lymphocytes are normal

Lymphoma: Lymphoma does not present with recurrent infections. It is normal for lymph nodes to wax and wane in size with the normal, common upper respiratory infections. Lymphoma usually presents with dramatically enlarged lymph nodes and no other symptoms. After a while there may be low grade fever and/or sweats at night.

Possible: Even with normal blood work lymph nodes can be mildly enlarged from a nearby infection. If no infection is identified and nodes can get enlarged and sometimes very enlarged a lymphoma is in the possibility. When an infection is treated the lymph nodes will go back to normal but in lymphoma they are not necessarily going away and will increase in size.

Possible: It is possible, eventhough the WBC and lymphocytes are normal. However , other condition that compromises / supressess your immune system also can give you frequent infection and can also cause swollen ;lymph glands. Definitely, further investigation is needed- biopsy of lymph gland if indicated, flow cytometry, viral serology, immunoglobulin, etc. Please see your doctor.
