A member asked:

How can i help someone with an addiction to self-injury?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Therapy and meds: You could recommend they see a therapist for psychotherapy, particularly dialectical behavioral therapy (dbt), as well as possible an antidepressant for relief of depression and anxiety. If the depression and anxiety is relieved, often the drive for self injury is reduced or eliminated. You could also read up on borderline personality disorder.
