Tinea versicolor: Oral antifungal can be used including ketoconazole or Fluconazole 400 mg in a single dose, or ketoconazole 200 mg daily for 7 days, or itraconazole 400 mg daily for 3–7 days. The single-dose regimens can be made more effective by exercising 1–2 hours after the dose, to induce sweating, which is allowed to evaporate, and showering is delayed for a day, leaving a film of the medication on the skin.

Another reasonable treatment is 400 mg of ketoconazole once, exercise hard to sweat. Leave the sweat to dry for a few hours before showering. Repeat the process one week later. A pretty reasonable treatment. Also, if the condition goes untreated to long I have seen some patients with pigment lightening that does not resolve.

If you develop abdominal pain in upper right side where liver is located, see your doc at once. These antifungal meds can cause liver damage.

Nizoral (ketoconazole): Antifungal medication known as Nizoral or ketoconazole can be taken by mouth to clear t. Versicolor. It works well.
