GERD: You have many choices starting with the common antacids. If antacids are not helping, you can try an h2 antagonist such as zantac (generic ranitidine), Pepcid (generic famotidine). If you are still not getting relief you can switch to a proton pump inhibitor such as Omeprazole (prilosec otc). There is no advantage to take both an h2 antagonist and a proton pump inhibitor together.
