Three elements of treatment or prevention, all readily available OTC: antacids, perhaps especially at bedtime; H2 acid blockers like omeprazole, lansoprazole and others; and sleeping position, such as extra pillows sleep with head and chest elevated higher than your legs. But best approach by far is to see a doctor to confirm diagnosis and then guide you in these or other treatments. Good luck.

Any medication can have side effects, although the medications available OTC for acid reflux, when used in the short term, are extremely safe. If you do not respond to two weeks of any of the over-the-counter remedies available, see your doctor or a gastroenterologist to arrange longer-term treatment. Good luck.
