Questions: Why can't you take antibiotics? Is this a personal choice or allergies? If you consult with a doctor and you are in their office, the question may be better answered.

Definitive treatment: A dental abscess usually requires dental treatment to resolve. The dentist can recommend an appropriate procedure to cure the infection without the use of antibiotics.

???: Effective alternatives? Probably none. The proper and effective treatment is to treat the tooth and take antibiotics. Treating the tooth may involve a root canal or removal of the tooth. Antibiotics is necessary to eradicate the infection. I am unsure of the reason for not taking antibiotics. Some antibiotics do make you ill but your doctor can recommend a different one. Good luck.

Why not?: You did not mention why you cannot take antibiotics. 1. There are plenty of choices available if you are allergic to the ones that you have tried. 2. If you can't swallow pills, most come in liquid form. 3. You can also be given im injections. 4.If you get GI problems, there are ways to deal with that also. Finally, there are no real substitutes for antibiotics. Discuss with your own dentist.
