A member asked:

Can you help? could salt water help an abscess?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

To a degree: Rinsing and swishing with hot salt water be beneficial in relieving symptoms of an infection, but is usually not curative. Usually, the source of the abscess (a bacterial infection) has to be eliminated. This can require a combination of antibiotics and maybe a surgical procedure.
