What's usually recommended for getting rid of my abscess?

Antibiotics or drain: Abscesses are best treated by draining them (usually surgically) or with the use of antibiotics, or both. The selection of the method depends upon the location of the abscess and how easy it may be to drain it.

See a doctor: Abscesses are infections that can spread and cause serious complications, especially when not taking antibiotics. Depending upon your medical history, location of abscess, cause, and specific pathogen, more or less danger is involved without professional care. See the appropriate doctor for treatment. Don't take any chances that you will be sorry for.
