I have an abscessed tooth. can not afford to have it pulled presently; am on antibiotics for now. how can i avoid having it flare up again ?

Needs to come out : It needs to come out asap. Even successive courses of antibiotics aren't good , you can use anti inflammatory ( Motrin - will help reduced inflammation) but the earlier it comes out the better it is. Tooth abscess can easily travel to ear / brain so i would be very careful

Drain it...: Drainage is the best treatment while waiting for a root canal. As long as an abscessed tooth established drainage, the damage would be minimal and the pain should be none. This can be done by pulpotomy (done by dentist), pulpectomy (done by dentist), occlusal adjustment to correct malocclusion (done by dentist). If you have no money, keep cleaning them and grind it down so it does not touch.
