Often will: Depends on the seriousness and kind of infection, as well as location. Typically takes about 24 hours for a good blood level to be reached to be effective. Really need to address the cause -- either root canal treatment gum tissue treatment or extraction and replacement tooth (implant is best). Follow-up with your Dentist or Endodontist (root canal), Periodontist(gums),or Oral Surgeon9Extraction).

Antibiotics: Antibiotics are not painkillers, and they only manage an infection for a short time until the problematic tooth can be treated by a dentist. If you are self medicating, I suggest you call a local dentist ASAP for treatment. You will avoid a lot of needless pain and suffering. Feel better soon...
