Some people need : Some people do need depression medicines for the long-term. If you've had 2 or more episodes of depression, many psychiatrists will recommend preventive maintenance with medications. For other treatment options, you could consult with a homeopathic psychiatrist -- such as dr. Mahesh gandhi in mumbai. Also dr. Rajan sankaran (mumbai) is another excellent homeopathic physician who could help you.

Mental Health: Many of my patients have started psychotherapy on various psychiatric medications and over time, as they learn more about themselves and how to cope differently, are able to titrate off medications. Of course this does not apply to everyone but it is certainly possible for many people who are committed to psychotherapy. Best wishes.

Yes if needed: Psychotherapy however should be tried. Over time you will want to get your dose as low as possible but not so low that you get uncomfortable or relapse. I am glad to see that you have the good fortune of having a behavior therapist. Other helpful options include exercise, but please be aware that 30% of people with panic disorder made actually worsen with exercise. A healthy diet and a stable sleep wake schedule are also important. Meditation, spirituality, yoga, and having a good social support network as well as as being a good social support network to others can also be helpful. There are also some reasonable over-the-counter alternative medicines that are helpful as well.
