A member asked:

Can a chest x-ray finds severe mitral regurgitation..?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Chest x-rays may show non-specific enlargement of the heart that can occur with a variety of conditions including severe mitral regurgitation;however, the mr is not visible. The more specific and diagnostic studies include color doppler echo-cardiogram and cardiac cath. Mitral regurgitation can produce a distinctive heart murmur.
