Not much: Your bite guard will protect your teeth from the wear caused by grinding. It will not protect your teeth from the acids in your diet, such as soda ( even diet sodas are acidic) or from bulimia or from gerd. You may have a dry mouth from mouth breathing and this can cause additional tooth problems. Talk with your dentist and your md about this concerns. Md can help with gerd and breathing.

Try flouride rinses: Are you bulimic? Reflux? High acid diet? Or just decayed? If you have acidic saliva, from diet or regurgitation, your teeth will continue to erode until it's under control. Talk to your dentist about Fluoride treatments. Try act restoring mouth rinse in the mean time. The bite guard can trap acidic saliva and keep it in contact with your teeth longer. This is not good, but either is dry mouth.

Acidic erosion: As long as the GI issue has not been resolved, you teeth are still subject to erosion. The nightguard only helps a little by covering the teeth at night . But acid can still seeps through.

Possibly!: Acid will erode your teeth regardless of your upper guard. You need to treat your acid reflux first.
