Doctor can evaluate: There are many causes for irregular menstruation. One common one is polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos), a hormonal imbalance along with cysts in the ovaries. Though most irregular menstruation is not immediately dangerous, any woman who does not menstruate monthly should consider seeing her primary care doctor or an ob/gyn for evaluation.

Normal: Erratic menstruation is normal (from time to time). There are a number of causes, but usually, it just "happens". Don't be too concerned about it. If you find that your menstrual cycles are consistently off, seek care from your physician.
