Sounds like shingles: Herpes zoster, or shingles, classically presents with a painful eruption involving the area supplied by a single nerve root on one side of the body. If it crosses the midline it is probably something else. The pain can often precede the outbreak. Go and get treated.

I have had pains in my lower abdomen mostly on the left side as well as my lower back for 5 weeks now. It comes and goes and at times is so severe I cant move. Doctor gave me meds for bladder infection 2 weeks ago but made no difference.
