How should we know if we are ready for the surgery?

Depends: It really depends on the situation (elective surgery, cosmetic, nonelective, traumatic, limb salvage, reconstructive, etc), type of surgery, etc. There are many factors, but above all, you have to be comfortable with your choice because once you choose it, there's no "undoing" surgery. Speak to people who already had that particular surgery and see if it's right for you. Good luck!
