Num-Zit!: Benzocaine is a local anesthetic (numbing topical) safe to swallow and use copiously since it is otc. Also, having your child bite on a frozen teething ring is safe and effective as well. Baby tylenol (acetaminophen) is a last resort for a good night's sleep. Good luck!

Teething relief: "frozen" rubber rings are good. "numz-it" over the counter is good. Animal crackers or this type of biscuit work well. Regular "meds" is not a viable option for an even (teething) which lasts on and off for months or years.

Teething rings: Cool temp teething rings and massaging the gums with a super-soft tooth brush should assist with discomfort associated with teething. Otc medications should be reviewed with your md to reduce risk of side affects and or allergy issues associated with certain medications. Not a fan of orajel.

Teething pouches: I really like the new teething pouches that are out there. You fill them with something like mango and put in the refrigerator to get cold. There are very tiny holes in the pouch that they can get some of the fruits juices while gnawing on the pouch, but can't get a piece big enough to be a choking hazard. They conform in size and shape to your child's individual gums, and are a treat too!
