Diet, habits: Gas is generally caused by eating high fiber foods but can occasionally be worsened with mild constipation. Other factors include drinking carbonated beverages, drinking with straws or out of narrow mouthed bottles. Many artificial sweeteners can cause gas as can dairy foods. Finally, eating too fast or washing food down with liquids causes air swallowing, bloating and gas.
