A member asked:

Can stem cells be used to create fibrous tissue over part of skin of the thigh to create mesh from patients own body for hernia repair?

No: The mesh provides a lightweight tough support for the abdominal wall. Stem cells are not used to make mesh.

Research: Stem cells are pure research at this time, and still highly controversial in government allowance or funding. Would be pure speculation to begin to guess if stem cells would ever become useful or affordable in replacing a person's organs or other structures. This will be years & decades before anything would be available outside research studies.
