Unlikely: Hidradenitis is smoldering infection of sweat glands of axilla (armpits). A likely cause is excessive sweating & abrasion of region; perhaps by wearing equipment with under-the-shoulder bands. In women the problem sometimes accompanies shaving axillary hairs; especially when undertaken with a previously used razor. Bacteria are ever present interlopers; awaiting irritated surfaces to invade.
