Is tanning before a liposuction procedure ok to do? what should be avoided before liposuction?

Never a good idea: A tan leads to premature aging of the skin and possibly skin cancers.

Avoid:: 1. Aspirin, motrin, advil (ibuprofen) and other pain medications that cause more bruising and bleeding. 2. Avoid drinking alcohol 3. Don't suntan the skin. 4. Don't gain a bunch of weight before surgery, "because it's getting sucked out anyway". 5. Follow your surgeon's directions. 6. Wash with antibacterial soap for several days before surgery.

Instructions.: Your plastic surgeon will havea list of “do's and don'ts” for you during a preoperative visit. At that point, he/she will review instructions regarding medication/activities to be avoided prior to surgery. Best wishes.

Tanning before lipo: Tanning prior to liposuction will not directly affect your procedure or surgical risks. However, you should avoid tanning in general and protect your skin with an appropriate spf when you are outside. Long term tanning will cause skin laxity and increase your risk of irregularities and increase your risk of skin cancers. http://www.dassmd.com/liposuction/index.html.
