Good question: If you are having smartliposuction with new triplex technology, then the lasers help tighten some skin, imporve extraction, and can reduce bruising. Please seek a board certified plastic surgeon.

No: It is just a tool for melting the fat away and then suctioning it with a normal cannula. It adds time and risk of skin burn.

Not Necessarily.: There are many different liposuction technologies available; each claims to be better than the other. Each is also heavily marketed. In my opinion, much more important than the specific technology used (when it comes to the surgical outcome or “effectiveness” of the procedure) is the surgeon using the “tool”. Patients are responsible to do their due diligence and select surgeon carefully.

SmartLipo Triplex: Most of the lasers used in lipo do not help except the smartlipo triplex (3rd generation). This is the first laser that has been shown in side-by-side studies to provide tighter skin compared to traditional lipo. But the procedure is only as good as the surgeon. Ask if they received formalized residency and fellowship training (not weekend course), number of cases performed, complication rate.

No: It adds the risk of burns. Seek a doctor who had substantial dedicated cosmetic surgery training.
