Start slow: I understand why you would feel this way. If you doctor has cleared you to restart activity, perhaps start with other exercises. For example you could brisk walk for a while or do some cycling. These put less strain on the knee and can help you get the legs in shape to start running. Who knows...Maybe you will like cycling so much that it becomes your main exercise. Best of luck.
