Of course not: If you don't have pain, there is no reason to take any pain medication.

Precautionary: I am sure your dentist was very concerned about the possibility of you being in pain. Yo should be happy he was concerned, but fi there is no pain there is no need for the pain medicine.

No: If you are having no pain, there is no need to take pain medication. I often prescribe such medications after a patient has a root canal as a precaution. I say that i would rather they have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

No, Not necessary: I just answered this, but since you are on line, i don't see a need for you to take the pain killer if you are not having pain, but please keep in touch with your dentist in case it starts hurting again. Hope you stay well.
