Seek Support: Depression makes everything hard--so help is really important. Talk to a counselor, therapist, or clergy member. Enlist your doctor or friend if this feels scary. This is is your key to getting better! try to get good sleep. Step out into sunshine what stress can you reduce? Avoid alcohol or drugs relaxation ideas: prayer, music, walking, reading find ways to laugh (movie, tv, friends, comic).

Fixing depression: I agree with dr. Lambe's initial suggestions that you can do on your own. However, more severe symptoms (especially changes in sleep, appetite, energy, plus suicidal thinking) mean you really need to see your doctor for general health check up because some medical problems can present as depression. Full evaluation with a psychiatrist and/or psychologist for best treatment, would be next step.
