Definitions: It may be very common to feel a wide range of bad feelings about things you think negative things about and aging is one in our culture today. It might (or not) qualify for Dx depending on symptom specifics. BTW, at nearly twice your age, I need to say you are not 'over the hill' (at least not my hill). Search for things to read, but face-to-face may be the best way to get CBT and support.

Aging and depression: It is very common to evaluate one's life when you are nearing milestones. Turning 40 is difficult for many people, but it can be a positive time of life if you take steps to stay physically active and healthy. Get a physical checkup, then establish a regular exercise plan. Eat healthy, quit smoking, spend time with friends, and challenge your mind. Try AARP.org online or WebMD.com

Therapy?: Online sources usually can take a person just so far. Have you yet tried any form of psychotherapy? Typically, the optimal combination of things to treat emotional issues such as anxiety or depression is medication (which, on your best day, is supposed to take the edge off symptoms) but the real gruntwork takes place in psychotherapist's consulting room.
