Some: The main risks of delaying hip replacement surgery are loss of hip motion, which can be very difficult to regain, and also increased technical difficulty of the surgery (i.e. Sometimes it's harder to do the surgery if the joint is extremely degenerated). Other than that, the main problem is having to deal with the pain until you decide to have surgery.

Hip surgery: If you are already in need of a replacement delaying the surgery only makes the surgery more difficult for your surgeon . Post op can be more difficult also. The risks of delaying the surgery are well known. Ask lots of questions when you speak to your surgeon.
