Suicidal thoughts: Some people have chronic suicidal thoughts, and this becomes a type of coping mechanism. It's not healthy because it leaves you no options. This can happen in some people with personality disorders, and also early trauma, abuse, or neglect. You can develop more life-affirming ways of dealing with pain by working with a therapist. Dialectical behavioral therapy (dbt) is especially helpful.
