In what way ?: Listerine is a mouthwash, and it does not restore carious lesions. Brushing and flossing correctly is your best defense, and the mouthwash will help you keep them clean, reducing cavities. The mouthwash alone will not do the trick.

Not the answer: The best way to prevent cavities is by proper brushing, flossing and avoiding sugary, starchy foods that promote tooth decay. The only way to treat existing cavities is to have a dentist restore them. All mouth rinses are not essential, although they may help in preventing plaque buildup and ones that have fluoride, especially prescription rinses that have higher doses of Fluoride can be beneficia.

Listerine w/fluoride: The best Literine to help prevent cavities are the ones that contain fluoride. Fluoride helps to fortify your teeth and helps prevent the build up of plaque. This should be part of a brushing, flossing and mouth rinsing routine, along with regular dentists visits.
