Manic episode: Some individuals in a manic state are unable to make decisions for themselves. They might need intervention, like acute psychiatric treatment or hospitalization. Some others will not see affected their judgment so severely. It is necessary and advisable to get informed consent in any medical procedure, and the ability and capacity to make rational decisions needs to be determined in every case.
