Muscle spasm: When a muscle spasms it causes inflammation (swelling) in the muscle and causes decreased blood flow to the muscle which leads to a build up of lactic acid. The Lactic Acid and swelling can lead to soreness. Advil (ibuprofen) and moist heat can help expedite recovery which usually takes a few days. If persists or increases in frequency duration or severity seek further help.
