Do people with cerebral vascular accident have a lot of pain?

Not typically: Usually, pain is not a symptom of a stroke.Weakness on one side of the body is more common.Difficulty speaking is also a common effect. At times, however, one can have pain in an extremity, or one side of the face, if an area called the thalamus is involved. Also , due lack of movement, joints can become stiff and cause arthritic pain.

Not usually: Strokes are not usually painful. However one unusual cause of stroke is dissection of the carotid artery which is often painful.
