Variable: The rate at which glaucoma damages the nerve is based on various factors. The more damage there is to the optic nerve, the lowrt the pressure needs to be to avoid further damage. The higher the pressure is (in a glaucomatous eye), the faster the damage will occur. The key is to be aggressive in staying ahead of progressive nerve loss, and to go to surgery sooner if needed.
