Soft and liquid diet: Only soft foods, yogurt, soups, mashed potatoes, blenderized foods and liquids if you are wired closed.

Broken jaw: Eat very soft foods. Smoothies are good, or anything else done in a blender.

Upper or Lower?: Did you have rigid fixation (plates and screws) & in elastics or a closed reduction (wired shut)? If you had orif & are either "swinging free" or have some elastics to help guide your bite, i would stick to soft non-chew diet. If you are wired closed, then everything needs to be puree or liquid. I typically give my patients a dietary list of do's & don'ts for orthognathic surgery/trauma fixat.

Depends: Depends if your jaw is wired shut or not. If wired shut - liquids. If not, non-chew diet. Your surgeon should have provided specific instructions. Ask him/her.
