Damaged nerve: If the tooth is grey and there is an abscess, then the nerve inside this baby tooth has been irreversibly compromised. She needs her baby teeth to maintain space and allow for proper speech development, as well as smiling and eating. There is a strong possibility that a baby "root canal" will be completed, but check with her dentist.

Probably: That depends upon many factors such as which tooth it is, how cooperative she is, etc. She should be seen by a pedodontist asap. All the options will be discussed with you along with a recommendation. Removing that tooth is a likely possibility.

Probably Extract: From what you're describing, it sounds like the abscessed gum and the darkened tooth are related. If that is true, more than likely the tooth will need to be removed. An x-ray can help diagnose if that dark tooth could possibly be saved, but the most important things are no end the abscess, prevent damage to the adult tooth and if the dark tooth needs extraction, place a space saver appliance.
