See a dentist: See a dentist to determine both the cause of the abscess and the available treatment options. There is nothing you can do on your own other than take otc pain medication which will offer only temporary relief at best!

Visit the dentist: Tooth/gum infection can further spread to other parts of the body like jaw bones and heart. It also can result in systemic infection. Therefore, dental treatment is a must. Keep a good oral hygiene and call for appointment.
