No: Asds and atrial septal aneurysms are congenital (present since birth) and don't "heal" but, if small, are harmless and don't require treatment. As i pointed out yesterday, an echo can determine the severity of shunt from which it can be determined if treatment is needed.

Not likely: Usually permanent and with low risk in general. Discuss with your pcp and probably cardiology to get full, education and become more aware.
